No kidding!
Is that true though? Lab animals won’t survive in the wild?
If yes, then we do them a favor, ja? By keeping them in cages??
On a related note, please read Kazuo Ishiguro’s “Never Let me Go”. I get the feeling you will enjoy it.

I think so.
One day I got a report of a dead mouse in one of my cages. Oh the horror.
I went to check the cage. Somehow an NMRI mouse had gotten into the cage filled with a transgenic line. It had killed one of them.
Reminds me also of the story where they did a behavioural test with inbred mice and a maze. They did really well! Smart animals!
Then they repeated it with a wild mouse.
It just jumped out the maze onto the floor.
